Failure analysis of marine diesel engines

In this series of projects, failure analysis has been performed by the Effect and Fault Analysis (FMEA) method and the finite element method, for in-house and out-of-installation marine diesel engines. Common failures in these systems were evaluated using the available statistical data. In the simulations, temperature analysis, wear and crack growth in the cylinder bush can be mentioned. The simulation results were used to improve the model quality in the redesign.

  • Production of FMEA model for the desired engine
  • Investigation of crack growth in Millang
  • Investigation of heat transfer in the cylinder liner
  • Thermal fatigue analysis in the cylinder liner
  • Abrasion analysis in the cylinder liner
  • Failure level metallography
  • Three-dimensional scanning of the mill
  • Check corrosion in the cylinder liner
